Release from this facility means that the named Halifax booking ended. It does not, by itself, say the person entered the community. Confirm a Halifax Jail Release
The Sheriff's official inmate-search page says its “Released Inmates” search is limited to the previous 24-hour period. The boundary and exact refresh schedule are not published. During research on July 30, 2026, legacy released routes redirected to current-inmate pages. That dated behavior may change. It makes the county page a useful first check, not final proof when the released option is missing or a name does not appear.

- Follow the county link to the jail application. If a released mode appears, search the exact name within the prior-day window.
- Match age, admit date, booking information, or case details. A name alone is not enough.

- Ask whether the named booking ended, the event time, and whether another agency took custody. Request the entry-and-release summary when written proof is needed.
A missing current-roster entry proves only that the person was not found in that view. It does not identify release, transfer, or continued custody.

North Carolina Chapter 132 allows inspection and copies of qualifying public records. G.S. 132-6 says access should be provided as promptly as possible, but it sets no fixed number of days. Under G.S. 132-6.2, ordinary copy charges are tied to actual reproduction cost, with a possible reasonable special service charge for extensive clerical or technology use. Halifax publishes no special release-record fee or guaranteed response time in the researched sources.
The county sheriff retention schedule authorizes destruction of inmate incarceration records three years after release or transfer. That schedule is not a promise that a web result lasts three years, nor a guarantee that every record survives beyond the authorized point. Request an older record promptly. If a portion is denied, ask for the legal basis and any nonexempt, severable part.
Halifax Bond Release Authority

Posting or authorizing bond starts a pretrial release path. It does not prove that all cases, detainers, and processing steps have cleared. The court order shows the legal conditions. The jail record shows whether the person physically left Halifax custody and when. If another hold exists, a valid bond in one case may not produce a community release.

ICE Detainers After Halifax Release

The jail and nearby courthouse serve different functions even though their listed addresses are close. The jail processes custody. The Magistrate and Clerk handle orders and case records. The Halifax County Courthouse is therefore a vital release-record source, but it is not a detention facility and is not listed as one.
